Mobility vs Stretching: How to Choose the Right One

Stretching doesn’t always solve the issue — sometimes you need stability and controlled mobility.

Stretching is often passive — you hold a pose. Mobility is active — you move through range with control. If stretching helps only briefly, you may be missing stability. Pilates helps combine both: it releases tension and teaches control. In practice, you start with small active movement, then add gentle stretching, and finish by returning to active control. This helps the body keep the new range instead of losing it right away.
